Cantor Kari Siegel Eglash has been a beloved part of the Temple Concord community since July 2014, serving as both Cantor and Director of Education. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was ordained in 2001 by the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College –Jewish Institute of Religion.
Before joining Temple Concord, Cantor Eglash served two other congregations: Temple Chaverim in Plainview, NY, and Temple Israel in Tulsa, OK, where she spent a decade enriching Jewish life through music, education, and worship.
Her journey to the cantorate has been both rich and diverse. After earning a BA in history from Beloit College, she spent time in Tata, Hungary, teaching English to high school students, followed by five years in the world of investment and finance. Yet, her deep love for Judaism, history, teaching, and especially music never waned—and ultimately led her to her true calling as a cantor.
While working on her master’s thesis, Cantor Eglash immersed herself in the Weinreich Summer Yiddish Program at Columbia University, pursuing her passion for Yiddish language and culture.
Cantor Eglash, her husband Joe, and their children, Ari and Judah, are proud to call Temple Concord their home and are deeply grateful to be part of such a warm and special community.
