Nir Becker, The Price of Nature: Can We Put a Dollar Amount on the Environment?
April 12 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Join us at Temple Concord on Sunday, April 12, from 10:00–11:00 am for a thought-provoking talk with environmental economist Dr. Nir Becker.
In “The Price of Nature: Can We Put a Dollar Amount on the Environment?”, Dr. Becker will explore one of the central challenges of environmental policy: how do we measure the value of the natural world? Clean water, healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and climate stability provide immense benefits, yet they rarely appear in traditional economic calculations. Governments and policymakers must still make decisions about development, conservation, and environmental protection—often without clear ways to measure what is at stake.
Drawing on his research in environmental economics, Dr. Becker will discuss how economists estimate the value of natural resources and ecosystem services, and how these calculations influence public policy around the world. The conversation will offer a fascinating look at the intersection of economics, environmental stewardship, and ethical decision-making.
